Story

HEART OF A DOG is a personal essay, an autobiographical film and a musical meditation about love and death by American experimental performance artist and musician Laurie Anderson (known from, among others, her single "O Superman"). The calm voice-over of Laurie Anderson can be heard in a stream of associative images, animations and 8mm films from her childhood. The filmmaker tells the story of her beloved dog Lolabelle who died, relating to the death of her mother and her late husband Lou Reed. In the film, which is supported with a by her written soundtrack, she shares her childhood fantasies and treats them politically and philosophically theories. HEART OF A DOG entered the world premiere at the International Film Festival in Venice 2015 and won the Lina Mangiacapre Award.
